The Dublin Postal Sports & Social Club was founded in 1971 by the late Mr Andy Moore, Superintendent II Parcel Office. His aim was to provide sports and recreational activities for all employees of An Post. With this in mind the committee set about looking for a premises for their club and in 1977 four committee members Andy Moore, Sean McLoughlin, Gerry Thompson and Tadgh Sullivan put their own homes up as collateral to ensure securing a bank loan for 60,000 and the dream of the Dublin Postal Sports & Social Club became a reality.

With this money they purchased 16 acres of recreational land at the foot of the Dublin Mountains on Kiltipper Road in Tallaght. There was already a building on site which was developed into a clubhouse and over the next couple of years a caretakers house was built and an 18 hole pitch and putt course was developed which was complemented by two soccer pitches and one GAA pitch. In 1986 new dressing rooms were built to cater for the vast amount of sporting activities taking place.

In 1997/98 the Board of Directors of the club began discussing the possibility of redevelopment. Under the guidance of J.J Higgins, Ron Richardson, John Mann and Mick Dempsey various committees were established and it was decided that the time had come to build a new clubhouse and to provide more sporting and social facilities for our members.

In 1999 with some financial assistance from An Post the new facilities were completed and officially opened by the then Chairman of An Post Mr Stephen O Connor. Our clubhouse is a two storey building comprising of Bar and function rooms, an office and reception area and also our very popular fitness studio with changing facilities.

These facilities have since been replaced by our new development of astro pitches which were completed in May 2004.Under our current development plans we hope to further enhance our facilities for our members and local community by extending on to the existing building providing additional toilets, offices, changing facilities with modifications to the bar and function rooms
